AIRPORTS AND ROADS
Access to Samana and Las Terrenas has recently been greatly improved, with three good options now available: direct flights to El Catey,
charter flights to El Portillo, or by car on the new highway. El Catey International Airport (Samana International Airport)
opened in November 2006 and is used mainly for connections in Europe and Canada. El Portillo municipal airport, located in Las Terrenas has
daily flights to and from Santo Domingo and other locations within the Dominican Republic (about $75 one way).
The new Santo Domingo/Samana Highway has reduced the drive from Santo Domingo to Las Terrenas from four and a half hours to two hours.
